The Apistogramma cacatuoides, or Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid, is a striking and charismatic dwarf cichlid prized for its vivid colours and dramatic fin extensions. Males typically display fiery reds, oranges, and blacks on their flowing fins, resembling a cockatoo’s crest. These fish do well in peaceful community tanks with plenty of hiding spots, especially in planted or aquascaped setups.
