The Siamese Bumblebee Catfish (Pseudomystus siamensis) is a bold, eye-catching catfish with striking black and yellow bands, giving it the look of a bumblebee — and the attitude to match. Unlike its South American namesake, this Asian species is a solitary, semi-aggressive predator, best kept with fast-moving or similarly sized tankmates.
Native to Southeast Asia’s slow-moving rivers, the Siamese Bumblebee Catfish prefers dimly lit tanks with plenty of caves, driftwood, and hiding spaces. Nocturnal and territorial, it's not afraid to stand its ground and will hunt very small fish or inverts if given the chance.
